Careers and Interest
Overview
The School Counseling Department's has information available on two- and four-year colleges and trade and technical schools. Computers located in the Guidance Department have programs containing information on colleges, careers, scholarships, job placement, and financial aid form processing. Resource materials outline job outlook, salary, working conditions, lifestyles and education needed to quality for each career. In addition, reference books, videotapes, college admissions process, financial aid for colleges and preparing for the SAT/ACT are also available. Career and Occupational Information
-Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2008/09 Edition provides detailed descriptions of hundreds of occupations, including salary expectations and growth outlook. This is an excellent resource, with lots of information and web links.
-Hoover's Online is an encyclopedia of company profiles and company web sites.
-Job Smart Salary Survey provides students with a place to take their own "Salary IQs." It describes salary surveys and salary negotiation strategies.
-Job Web covers job choices, news and information, resources, and job discussion groups.
