Chapel Families, all grades 3-6 students will participate in the Smarter Balanced State Assessment over the next few weeks. Chapel's testing schedule was created to spread testing sessions out, providing students ample opportunity to complete each section while limiting the amount of time they are testing each day. There is a math section of the test that consists of 2 parts. A reading section and a science section ONLY for students in grade 5. For each section of the test, students in grades 3 and 5 will test from 9:15-10:15 AM, and students in grades 4 and 6 will test from 10:20-11:20 AM each day. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher or Mr. Cicero. As always, thank you for your support! Respectfully, Mr. Cicero

Eli Whitney's Grade 2 Students Embrace Reading with Their New Stuffed Animal Pals - Second-grade students had a unique and heartwarming experience at our "Pet Adoption Agency," where they had the opportunity to adopt their very own stuffed animal puppies. This creative initiative, designed to encourage reading at home, was met with excitement and enthusiasm by students.
Mr. Veteri guided students through a special reading oath. Each child pledged to read to their new puppy for at least 20 minutes every night, fostering a sense of responsibility and commitment to their reading goals.
The initiative aimed to make reading more enjoyable and meaningful for students by tying it to the concept of caring for a pet. By adopting a puppy, students not only felt a personal connection to their reading routine but also found a fun and interactive way to build their reading habits.
