Franklin's Sixth Grade Black History Month Living Wax Museum is an annual event, held each February since 2018, that educates students on Black history and its many achievements. It provides an interactive opportunity for students to research and embody notable Black leaders, celebrating their accomplishments and cultural heritage. As part of the project, students write essays, create slideshows, and rehearse speeches to bring their chosen figures to life. The event culminates in a “Living Wax Museum,” where students present their research through engaging, in-character performances for their peers. Recognized for its impact, this event was featured on the front page of the CT Post in 2023 & 2024 and highlighted by CT News 12.
