Ms. Jean T. Collier
Jean Collier has been a member of the Town of Stratford Board of Education (BOE) since her election in November, 2007. She has 26 years of leadership and team experience in public accounting, finance, communications, human resources, leadership development, foundation work, and development/fundraising in the areas of higher education and local community impact programs.
Jean is presently the Chairperson of the Board's Personnel Committee, and also serves on the Chairmen's Committee, Curriculum Committee, Finance Committee, Financial Review/Planning Committee, Athletic Programs Review Committee, Negotiating Committee, and Recreation Committee. In addition, she serves as the Appointed Board of Education representative for CABE (Connecticut Association of Boards of Education) and the Education Foundation. Jean is currently enrolled in the CABE Leadership Institute and expects to graduate in February of 2010. She holds a Bachelor of Administration degree in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting from the University of Notre Dame, and a Masters of Business Administration degree, concentrating in finance, from New York University. Recently, Jean completed a 22 year career at General Electric where her last role was with the GE Foundation, and she led the US Education Initiatives for GE. Jean is now working as a Director of Regional Development for the University of Notre Dame.
Jean serves on the Sterling House Community Center Ambassadors Committee, and is actively involved in Our Lady of Peace Church in Lordship. In addition, she served on the University of Notre Dame Board of Trustees and served the 125,000+ alumni as the Alumni President from 2002-2004. She continues to actively participate in the local alumni club whose focus is on service and raising money for scholarships.
Jean is married to Gary Anderson, is a lifelong resident of Stratford, and attended Stratford Public Schools from grades 5-12, graduating from Stratford High School in 1979. Many of her 9 siblings also attended school in Stratford. She is the proud aunt of 4 Stratford High School graduates, and has a niece and nephew currently attending Lordship Elementary School.
Jean is very proud of Stratford and works as a Board member to help Stratford students achieve their potential as caring, involved, and educated citizens. Jean believes a world class education will prepare Stratford's children and community for an ever changing world and support them to be active participants and leaders in the community, locally and beyond.
