Charles A. Lindberg, Board Co-Chair
Mr. Lindberg is a lifelong resident of Stratford and a 1982 graduate of Stratford High School. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of Connecticut in 1986, and is currently employed as the Manager of Fraternal Communications for the Knights of Columbus International Headquarters in New Haven, Connecticut.
Mr. Lindberg has been a long time advocate of the Stratford education system and the town's students. He has held position of PTA president at Stratford Academy and at Wooster Middle School, and is the current PTSA president at Stratford High School. Along with his work on behalf of Stratford students, Mr. Lindberg has served the community in a variety of other ways. He's been a member of the mayor's advisory committee (held the office of secretary); Mr. Lindberg served on the Board of Managers for the Stratford YMCA; and on the Board of Directors for Literacy Volunteers of America, Greater Bridgeport Chapter. He has also held the office of secretary for the Bridgeport/Stratford YMCA Swim Team parent's group. Along with his work on various boards, Mr. Lindberg has also volunteered with a variety of organizations including the Stratford High School Booster Club, the Bunnell/Stratford Combined Marching Band, The STRY Swim Team, and the Stratford Historical Society.
Mr. Lindberg received a number of honors in recognition of his efforts, including: Team Spirit Award - BSY Swim Team 2008; 2008 Strong Kids Builder Award - Connecticut Coastal YMCA; 2003 Strong Community Builder Award - Connecticut Coastal YMCA; 2002 Friend of Education Award - Stratford Board of Education; and the 1989 Volunteer of the Year Award - Literacy Volunteers of America, Greater Bridgeport Chapter.
Mr. Lindberg believes goals for the Stratford Public School system should include providing the opportunity for every student to achieve his/her high academic potential through a responsibly funded education budget; pursuing alternatives sources of additional funding for the system through grants and other resources; continuing to grow the careers pathway programs at the high school level; working to give Stratford's student a more global view through continuing to enhance the curriculum to reflect changing technologies and provideing opportunities to learn foreign languages; and ensuring that the district continues to meet the requirements set by No Child Left Behind legislation.
